Country Meets Chic at Ram’s Gate Winery

Feelin’ festive in the Ram’s Gate courtyard.

There are wineries, and there is Ram’s Gate. Perched on a hill, Ram’s Gate offers unparalleled views of the Carneros countryside. Ram’s Gate is in the southern edge of the Carneros wine region. Why the name Ram’s Gate? Carneros means ram in Spanish; the winery is at the gateway to wine country.

As you approach the farmhouse, an open-air courtyard greets you upon entry. Once you are here, you may never want to leave. Visitors can cozy up to the stone fireplace in the outdoor lounge or plop down in the terrace overlooking the estate vines.

Sip and savor the wines and the views.

Keeping in the spirit of the holidays, I ordered a sparkling flight. First came the NV Sonoma County Sparkling Brut. This wine comes alive with hints of honeysuckle, green apple, and toasted brioche. Next, I tasted the Estate Blanc de Noirs. Made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes, the Estate Blanc de Noirs delivers a medley of Bartlett pear, white peach, and citrus. Last, I sipped the Estate Brut Rose. Fulfilling the promise of fresh raspberries, this wine is delicious and captivating.
